Middlesbrough have completed one deal, but could they be about to sign another former Manchester United player?
The newly promoted side are looking into the option of signing goalkeeper Victor Valdes and striker Robin van Persie.
According to the BBC, Valdes confirmed his new move to Riverside stadium on Thursday after completing a medical agreeing on personal details. The former Barcelona man struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal after he arrived in January 2015 before being released at the end of last season.
The 34-year old only made two appearances for United and a move to Besiktas failed to materialise last summer. The goalkeeper wasn’t given a squad number last season and was loaned out to Standard Liege in January this year, helping them win the Belgian Cup.

Robin van Persie left Old Trafford last summer to move to Fenerbache in Turkey, so it comes as a surprise that they are willing to listen to offers. The 32-year old scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Super Lig runners-up.
The Dutch international spent over ten years in the Premier League with both Arsenal and Manchester United, making over 250 appearances in that time, scoring more than 150 league goals.
Securing the signature of either one of the former Red Devils would be a major boost for the chances of Middlesbrough staying in the league. They announced the signing of their third new player on Monday with the arrival of defensive midfielder Marten De Roon from Atlanta. The Dutchman had only spent a year in Italy, playing most of his club football in the Netherlands.
The 25-year-old joined Viktor Fischer and Bernardo Espinosa at the new Premier League team. When he joined he said; “I was directly interested because for any player the Premier League is the highest level you can reach – especially for a Dutch player. From the age of six, you’re looking up to the Premier League.”
Middlesbrough start their campaign on the 13th of August at home to Stoke.
