Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has blasted one if his key players in the media after a serious drop in form.
Manchester United attacking midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has felt the full force of Jose Mourinho in the media this weekend after the Armenian was called out for some below par performances of late.
The former Borussia Dortmund play-maker started the Premier League season with a bang, impressing United fans and getting all the plaudits with some superb individual performances. However, the 28-year-old has seen a real dip in form and Mourinho has openly revealed that his contributions of late have not been up to scratch.
Mourinho said, “I was not happy with his last performances, it’s not one or two, I am talking about three, four or five.” He added, he started well this season but his performance levels, goalscoring, assists, high pressing, bringing the team with him as number 10, were decreasing step by step. That was enough [to be dropped] because the others worked to have a chance. Everybody works to have a chance. It’s as simple as that.”
The former Chelsea boss is taking no prisoners as he looks to push rivals, Manchester City for a success Premier League campaign. Mkhitaryan’s form may have dropped considerably since his flying start to the campaign but this could be a real hammer blow to the midfielders confidence as well as his future at Old Trafford.
Speculation from BBC Sport suggests that Mkhitaryan could return to Dortmund despite joining the English giants just over a year ago.
A cloud of doubt looms over the midfielder, but could this be the wake up call he needs to re-ignite those glistening performances United fans saw a few months ago?
