Liverpool’s new midfielder Fabinho has revealed that he consulted God before making the move to Anfield in the summer.
Liverpool’s new Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho had to seek some divine intervention before putting pen to paper at the Merseyside club. The Sun have reported that the 24-year-old first sent a group whatsapp message to some close friends and family to “pray for guidance” in the lead up to his Premier League move.
Fabinho, a committed Christian was keen to consult God and pray about the move before agreeing to join Liverpool and ply his trade in what is regarded as the worlds most entertaining league. Whilst the Brazilian is yet to feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side, Fabinho will certainly add quality and competition amongst the midfield ranks. Liverpool now boast an array of exciting talent on paper, the question for Reds fans will be can they turn that quality into results on the pitch.
A close friend of Fabinho told SunSport, “He was obsessed with one day playing in the Champion’s League. So the move to Liverpool really was a no brainer, it is everything he ever wanted. But even so, he wouldn’t have gone if he wasn’t sure God wanted him to.”
He added, “He sent a WhatsApp audio message to his friends back home, asking them to pray for God to give him guidance and direction about which decision to make.
“He said he wanted to know that going to Liverpool was the will of God for his life. He wanted to feel peace about it and said he wouldn’t do it if he didn’t feel God wanted it.”
Fabinho follows the same footsteps as his fellow countryman, Ricardo Kaka who also sees prayer as a way of communicating to God to help discern his calling for his life.
Will Fabinho become a mainstay in the Liverpool team this season?
