Fulham star, Jean Michael Seri has revealed why he opted to join Fulham instead of Chelsea, Spurs or Liverpool.
Fulham new boy, Jean Michael Seri has hit the ground running in the Premier League, showcasing why big name clubs in Europe were eyeing up the Ivorian midfielder. Despite interest from clubs such as: Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool, it was Premier League new-boys, Fulham who provided the biggest upset by confirming the former Nice midfielder was ready to put pen to paper with the Lilywhites.
Speaking to The Metro, Seri said, ‘When I played for Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal, Nice came for me and they really came,’ Seri said. ‘Fulham wanted me the same way. ‘They said, “We want you, come to Fulham.” Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, they saw me but they didn’t say, “We want you.” ‘Because Fulham gave me this respect, although other clubs wanted me, I wanted to sign for Fulham.
The 27-year-old also caught the eye from Spanish giants, Barcelona but revealed that it was his Christian faith that helped him settle on a move to England as opposed to the Camp Nou. Speaking to The Times, Seri revealed, “They said it was about money but I think it’s God because I am a Christian, so when Barcelona said they want this player for this amount and Nice said they want this amount, if they don’t pay it’s because God says you don’t go to Spain and your destiny is to play in England. This is why I don’t stay angry with the president. I needed to come to England.”
Seri’s career in England is still in it’s early days but the Ivorian has already shown glimpses of what he’s capable of in the limelight. Fuham fans will be desperate to keep hold of one of their prized assets, but will the London outfit be able to fend off interest from potential suitors like Barcelona?
