Ex- Chelsea and Newcastle footballer Gavin Peacock caught up with CTL co-founder Liam Flint to reveal what drove him to go from club player to church pastor?
Now pastor of Calvary Grace Church in Canada, Gavin Peacock, took time out of his busy schedule to chat all things faith and football with Cross The Line:
Gavin spoke about his love for his boyhood passion, football, which was only rivaled when God came into the picture. Saved as a budding professional, the Chelsea and Newcastle midfielder quoted at the time:
‘Football was my God as a youngster. But it didn’t satisfy, I was empty’.
The former Premier League man let us into his playing days at giants Chelsea, Newcastle United and a club close to his heart, QPR.
It was great to hear a powerful testimony about God’s hand and direction in him putting football aside in order to become a pastor, which has seen him move to Canada.
It was a real privilege to hear about Gavin’s story and how he set about balancing his illustrious playing career and his love for Jesus, a man to be inspired by.
